"I was born in 1973 in the Kagawa-prefecture of Japan. I started my fantastic paintings because as a child I used to watch animated films and Japanese comics.

In high school, I majored in interior design and sculpture. I went to Kyoto Saga University of Arts studied Western art history and oil painting.

I am influenced by surrealism, symbolism, modern illustration, and a lot of things in Japanese subculture."

Rituali figurati, tableaux vivants, neogotiche pale d'altare per i misteri di una oscura religione. La critica si è sbizzarrita per trovare definizioni che diano un'idea della pittura di Saturno Buttò veneziano, nato a Portogruaro nel 1957.

Si iscrive nel 1971 al liceo artistico di Venezia e successivamente all'Accademia di Belle Arti, diplomandosi al corso di pittura nel 1980. Se si eccettua il decennio legato agli studi, Saturno non lascia mai Bibione, cittadina veneta sul mare, dove vive e lavora.

L'artista sostiene sempre con convinzione l'importanza avuta dall'esperienza veneziana per la sua formazione; il liceo lo inizia al disegno classico ed evidenzia quella che è sempre stata una sua vocazione: la figura. E' un periodo questo di continuo lavoro a matita su carta, in cui non esistono variazioni al rigore monocromatico dei disegni, eccetto una timida comparsa (nell'ultimo anno di liceo) di velature ad acquerello, preludio forse al clima più vivace dell'accademia a cui Saturno approda dopo la maturità artistica nel 1976.

Paradossalmente è proprio l'atmosfera di totale libertà d'espressione che lo convince ad abbandonare, anche se temporaneamente, matite e pennelli a favore di "nuove tecniche" come film, fotografia e varie esperienze legate alle correnti artistiche più in voga in quegli anni quali Body Art e Conceptual Art...

Non cambia però l'interesse per l'elemento umano, che se al liceo viene vissuto in chiave prevalentemente oggettivo anatomico, con l'accademia la ricerca si sposta sul soggetto, sul carattere e le sue implicazioni psicologiche. La "fusione " delle due esperienze determina a partire 1980 (anno dei ritorno a tecniche artistiche più tradizionali) la linea che caratterizzerà anche in seguito tutta l'arte di Saturno: una pittura di forte impatto realistico, basata sul disegno e improntata al tema dei ritratto.

Il successivo decennio si connota per una costante ricerca di perfezionamento della tecnica ad olio che viene interpretata con gusto dei tutto personale che lo condurrà allo stile unico delle tavole degli anni novanta.

Nel 1993 espone per la prima volta in pubblico e pubblica il catalogo monografico "Ritratti da Saturno 1989-1992".

Además de sus obras independientes, ha colaborado con el diseño de videojuegos, carátulas de cedés, portadas de tebeos y cartas de Tarot.
Especialmente famosas son sus ilustraciones de Julie Strain para la película animada Heavy Metal'.

Jock Sturges(American, 1947 - ). Through photographic portraiture, Jock Sturges portrays the radiance of the children of close friends and family. The photographs, taken with a large-format camera and often in the final hours of late summer days, depict the luminescence of the human form, unclothed and unashamed. Born in New York City in 1947, Sturges earned his B.F.A. in Perceptual Psychology and Photography from Marlboro College and went on to receive his M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. His work is in the collections of major institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; The Frankfurt Museum of Modern Art; and The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. His work is published in numerous monographs, most recently Jock Sturges, New Work 1996-2000 (Scalo, 2000).

Helnwein estudió en la Universidad de Artes Plásticas en Viena (Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, Wien). Le fue otorgado el premio de Master Class (Meisterschulpreis) en la Universidad de Artes Plásticas en Viena, el premio Kardinal-Konig y el premio Theodor-Korner.
Sus primeros trabajos consistían principalmente de acuarelas hiperrealistas de niños heridos, así como performances —a menudo con niños— en lugares públicos. Helnwein es un artista conceptual, interesado principalmente en la ansiedad psicológica y sociológica, así como en temas históricos y políticos. Como resultado de ésto, su trabajo suele ser considerado provocativo y controversial. Helnwein ha trabajado como pintor, dibujante, muralista, fotógrafo, escultor y artista de performance, utilizando una gran variedad de técnicas y medios. China Hamilton, has established a considerable global reputation as photographer of fine art erotic images of women.
He is married and has four children. He was born in Norbury, south London England in 1946 and attended Croydon Technical School before spending four years at Croydon College of Art and Design. Here he specialised in life drawing under the renowned Fred Janes. He also studied fine art, graphic design and photography.
He first started making his own sunlight prints and processing his own film at age eleven and at age thirteen started painting and drawing seriously. Paintings of wild landscapes and drawing the female nude have always run alongside his photographic work.
After leaving college he and a partner established London's first specialist macro photography business, specialising in the photography of fine art antiques for dealers and the major London auction houses. He is something of a polymath, also having a passion for precision engineering. He has rebuilt and raced historic racing cars and motorcycles, plays traditional Irish Music and is also well know for his erotic short stories many of which have been published.
He has been seen as one of the leading fine art photographic printers of the twentieth century. He strove to produce photographs that were each unique pieces of creative work. In this quest he mastered and improved many historic processes and has contributed to photographic science a number of new printing processes including making photographic images upon hand made watercolour paper and copper sheets.
He was sponsored by Kodak and featured in their Professional Journal. These processes have been published in the photographic press. His photographs have been and continue to be published by journals and magazines world wide.
His work has often examined the darker side of female sexuality alongside his more traditional erotic pictures. Much of his later work is inspired by sadomasochistic subjects. This particular theme has made this aspect of his work controversial though its reflection upon the power and private expression of women has brought a new sensitivity and respect to this subject. His unique and distinctive style of image has often been the inspiration for the work of other photographers.
In 1996 he was awarded the global title of Erotic Photographer of the Year. His work is in many private collections around the world including the collection of the Museum of Erotic Art, Miami, USA. Over the past twenty years he has been included in many exhibitions of erotic art and photography, and he had a one-man show at Editions Graphic Gallery in London’s West End. He had a one-man show of landscape work using hand made photographic processes at The Sterts Centre Bodmin, Cornwall. In 2005 he was invited to exhibit six pictures in the erotic art exhibition of the Brighton Fringe, Brighton England. His work has appeared in many book compilations.
China Hamilton's photographs have recently been included in the new and most comprehensive publication by Taschen featuring the work of 82 of the World's most significant photographers of the erotic, "The New Erotic Photography".He has been selected as a Juror for the global 2007 Erotic Signature Competition.

Todd Gary Essick was raised in the Chicago area, spending summers in Ocean City, New Jersey and Winter breaks in South Florida, where he first became enchanted with the sea as a child. After moving to Florida he attended a commercial art school. During his last semester an interest in photojournalism was sparked by an internship with the Miami Herald. The photographic image became the focus of his artistic and professional life. Working as a professional freelance photojournalist for almost a decade, he covered daily news, sports and special interest stories, including drug and refugee interdiction in the Caribbean, the riots in Miami, the civil war in Central America and the Olympics. He has tackled some of the most intense and challenging assignments possible, primarily freelancing for the Associated Press in Miami. Throughout his career he has been published in newspapers and magazines around the world. Yet throughout his photojournalism career he continued to use scuba diving and the ocean as his escape from the business of photography. As tabloid news blurred the lines in mainstream journalism he became disenchanted with the industry. He retired the camera in order to pursue other interests. Ironically, it was during this time away from the camera that he conceptualized this underwater photography project and made a decision to take on his toughest and most rewarding assignment yet.

Né à Paris (France) il y a une quarantaine d’années, enfance banlieusarde et laborieuse. Cursus et débuts professionnels trop chaotiques pour qu’on s’y attarde ici. Se met à la photo pour aider sa petite amie d’alors à échouer à un concours de top models, puis s’y consacre tout à fait grâce à un licenciement qui le jette dans les rues de Paris. Décide de devenir photographe (lui aussi). Vivote quelques années d’un cocktail reportage, mode et portrait en studio, tout en enchaînant les emplois satellites (loueur de matériel, tireur-filtreur, jusqu’à photographe municipal, le fond de l'abîme !). Ses dernières photos sont pour les premiers pas de son fils, celles-ci trouveront éditeur. Démonte son agrandisseur et renonce à l’image une dizaine d’années. Travaille comme graphiste comme salarié puis sous sa propre enseigne (Sampeur !), ce qui laisse son démon créateur un moment plus tranquille. (Pendant ce temps, écrit et autopublie des drôles de fantasmagories érotico-baroques pour entretenir sa vision.) Attaque l’an 2000 en tâtant de quelques gadgets (appareil photo numérique et Internet) qui s’avèrent pratiques pour relancer la machine. Le site Trompe-la-mort voit le jour, d’abord axé sur des séquences où virevoltent des jeunes filles délibérément floues. Un labyrinthe se construit peu à peu, complexe et éclectique comme le bonhomme. L’ajout du photoblog Irregular fin 2003 marque la volonté de privilégier l’improvisation, l’expérimentation qui parfois dérange, le choix d’une photographie qui sert à écrire et pas forcément à plaire. Une dernière excroissance, Image Latente, est le lieu où ses photographies se cognent à des narrations écrites d’autres comparses. Enfin une section pro, car en édition, spectacle ou musique, de plus en plus de commandes de création graphique comportent une carte blanche à Ernesto Timor pour la partie photographie !

Mario Vidor was born in 1948 in Farra di Soligo (Treviso). After his first pictorial experiences in the Eighties, he focused on photography.
Since 1982 he developed his own research in two directions, starting from the teaching of last century's masters of image: historical-scientific research and creative language.
After the publication of his first work "Sulle terre dei Longobardi" (1989), many other volumes of photography and some singular photolithographic portfolios have followed. In September 1992 in Pontremoli he was awarded the Bancarella Prize for "Semplicemente Italia". Other awards worth mentioning are: Best Venetian photography, Padua (1996), the "Carlo Goldoni" Award and the "Territorio Odissea 2000" Award (1998) in Macerata for the book "Le torri di Babele" and, in march 2002, in Orvieto (TR), he won the first prize in the category "Creative Photography" with the book "Pagine Bianche" and in May 2003 in Garda (VR) he received the Italian Photography Award from the FIAF (Italian Federation of Photographers' Associations).
