Stanton was born on September 29, 1926 in Booklyn, New York, and was already drawing at the age of twelve. Even his earliest comics were full of sexy girls and would often bring a blush to his grandfather's face. Stanton gained popularity while he was serving in the U.S. Navy by drawing his scantily-clad heroines on his fellow sailors' handkerchiefs. From 1958 to 1966, Stanton shared a studio with his friend and colleague Steve Ditko, the well-known artist who created Spiderman. Eric Stanton drew his pictures in India Ink, and they were then hand-colored by Ditko. In addition to his cover designs for erotic magazines and novels, Stanton became well-known for his mail-order picture stories, which he customized to the indivual preferences of his clients. Eric Stanton passed away on March 17, 1999. He will always be remembered as one the founding fathers of fetish art as well as a pioneer in the erotic art world today.

I've been drawing andinterpreting the female form ever since I can remember, my childhoodalbums were graced by my colourful mermaids and faerie tales inspiredgirls... It was during the late 1990's though, that I became veryinvolved in the PIN UP phenomenon.

I have had many inspirations but the biggest have come from my eager interest in fetish paraphernalia, Bettie Page, vintage magazines, and the masters of bizarre art.

I think it's all shown in my artwork? *Wink!* On those days, I begun getting my hands into creating pinups of many favorite women: spicy femmes such as Dita Von Teese, Mistress Persephone, Jami Deadly, etc. and I opened my ownsite www.vinylya.com in 2002! "Hi everyone. I’m Stanley Lau, aka Artgerm in the art community. I was born and bred in Hong Kong, and migrated to Singapore 15 years ago when I was 17. My native language is Chinese and I speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. I love games of all platforms (pc, ps2, psp, xbox, arcade), and I am currently playing DOTA and Ghost Recon III. My favorite games are Bubble Bobble and Katamari Detamacy. I also play basketball, tennis, and occasionally karaoke. I am a Christian.

I've loved drawing since I was a kid. My mum used to buy me stacks of coloring books and sketch pads. I could spend the whole day drawing and coloring and soon, that became my favorite hobby during my childhood. My interest in art developed further in Primary and Secondary school days. I was known as the “drawing guy” in class. My text books (as well as my classmates’) were filled with doodles and flip book animations. That was fun! Gradually, I made a name among the classmates and teachers and was recommended to handle some publication designs for my school, as well as putting up my first personal art exhibition in the school library. That really got me started thinking about being an artist as a profession.

Like the rest of the Singaporean guys, I have to fulfill 2 years of National Service in the Army. In the 2 years, I was appointed as the lead designer for my camp to produce publicity materials like banners, T-shirts, wall murals, posters etc. It was fun and kept me in tune with who I am; at the same time, this earned me extra off days. After my NS days, I was even more determined to pursue Art & Design as my career. Although I faced resistance from my dad, I was able to convince him with my determination and confidence in success in this industry.

After NS days, I took up a diploma course in Visual Communication in a local polytechnic – Temasek Polytechnic. Honestly, the course did not help much in improving my technical skill. However, it built up my discipline in design and expanded my network with potential clients. Also, I got to know a bunch of good friends who also became my team mates upon graduation. Those 3 years in a design environment, with no distractions of boring subjects like Physics & Mathematics, helped me to focus on improving my design knowledge. Most importantly, I spent most of my free time in the school library reading up all kind of publications beside Design books. I believed and still believe that ideas come from everywhere.

In general, 80% of my design knowledge and skills are acquired through self-learning via books and Internet. I like to challenge norms and general perceptions, which help me to find out theories behind things.

Being curious by nature, I question about everything. For example, I can spend time to check out every command in Photoshop, to find out its very function… Think about the exact color of a tree’s shadow under a clear sky compared to a stormy one, in different times of the day."

Historietista mediático por excelencia, Enki Bilal (Belgrado, 1951) ha logrado en los últimos años convertir en noticia cada nuevo lanzamiento de sus obras. Si el estreno de su última trilogía con El sueño del monstruo ya hizo correr, en la medida de lo posible, ríos de tinta, la llegada de 32 de diciembre no le va a la zaga. Bilal es, sobre todo en su país de adopción, Francia, algo así como un fenómeno cultural, una estrella de la BD, tal y como lo prueba el hecho de que su esperado álbum saldrá al mercado con una tirada inicial de más de 300.000 ejemplares.

Debutante en 1972 en la popular Pilote, entrará allí en contacto con los grandes nombres de la historieta francesa, y precisamente durante sus primeros años en la revista se le considerará discípulo de Moebius tanto estética como temáticamente. En aquel entorno se iniciará su prolífica colaboración con el creador de Valerian, Pierre Christin, con quién firmará un total de seis trabajos entre 1975 y 1983. Pero pocos años antesya había decidido lanzarse al ruedo en solitario con La feria de los inmortales, primera entrega de la que luego sería conocida como Trilogía Nikopol, que se completaría con La mujer trampa y Frío Ecuador.

Artista inquieto, director de cine, pintor e ilustrador, se ha convertido, con algo más de cincuenta años, en un clásico de la historieta y en un referente para muchos creadores. "My name is David Flores. I am a stencil artist from Southern California. Representing ...as the collective since 2002. I am the guy who paints girls in gas masks. Sometimes they wear hardly anything, sometimes they wear more, but it is only for the photo. I am not sexist in any way, shape or form, and I feel that it is important that I clear that up. And while I am on the subject, I do not do heroine either, but it does happen out there and I think people neglect to see that fact, as well as poverty, war and equality. I love my life. I work hard at what I do, and won't stop until I get to where I want to be. I am currently building an empire. It appears to be happening slowly to some people, but it has all gone as planned thus far. I love hip-hop and it's culture. I like painting pictures of it's people. I don't use Photoshop for any of these paintings that I speak of".

2Urban Artist. Iranian born in Tehran. I started graffiti stencil from 2002 when I made the second stencil from acetate sheet in my life. It was the Munch's "Scream" which I wanted to spray in Our Art University walls. Why? because the Art scene is terrible in Iran and like any other environments it's full of obligations and controls. I did my job and after that i just worked and sprayed. It was not just the start for my work, but a start for Iranian graffiti scene which got to start 2 years later. Most of my time i am surfing the web, saving images and making stencils out of them. The rest of my time i am surfing the streets, taking photos and making stencils out of them. I make my life with graphic design and selling my canvases (paintings). So you see I have a miserable life".

Bill Ward (1919-1998) was essentially an accomplished illustrator who developed a speciality at which he became the unassailable master. Ward’s signature was the glamour girl, a completely sexist, non-PC representation of the American woman, which started life as a light hearted character called Torchy in a wartime GI magazine. The UK had its own equivalent in the Daily Mirror’s dippy Jane cartoon, but whereas Jane innocently giggled her way into numerous silly situations, Torchy sashayed her way through life oozing sex appeal and smarts.

After the War, Ward developed this character into a full blown sex siren, and the busty, long legged starlet in stilettos was born. Ward’s method was the sepia Conte crayon tonal drawing, which naturally lent itself to publishing by taking on a photographic quality when coloured in, and from the 1950s onwards his work appeared in a mass of what used to be known as ‘mens magazines’. This success lasted until photography started to dominate the genre, a imagery a lot more explicit – but strangely less erotic – than Ward’s drawings. In the decade that spawned Playboy, Bill Ward had to change his style to survive and he did this by developing a line in fetish characters which brought him into contact with transvestites and lifestyle bondage clubs. He rapidly attained cult status within this hidden world.

It would be a mistake to dismiss Ward as a cheap pornographer pandering to a salacious audience, using the drawing medium to avoid the full attention of the law. Many artists who attempted to imitate his style have failed miserably, and of those that used some of Ward’s extreme imagery for inspiration, a few are cult comic hero’s themselves, most notably Robert Crumb. It’s true that Ward did enter a bad patch in his career, when social mores changed and the permissive 60’s heralded in the Deep Throat era. He was forced to turn his skills to suggestive cartoons – a vulgar and more overtly sexual version of the seaside postcard, but without the element of innocent fun embodied by Donald McGill. He also illustrated lingerie catalogues selling risqué underwear (to good effect) and a host of ‘adult reading’ story magazine covers. All these artworks are now collector’s items and Taschen have done an outstanding job in presenting the complete Bill Ward, sourcing images and examples from the many facets of his long career. Ward’s original works are now avidly sought after by collectors across the world. Produced in a large format and in full colour, using a cartridge paper stock that reproduces the qualities of the originals perfectly, this book is itself destined to become a collectors item.

In her art, she explores themes of beauty, sexual provocation, neo-burlesque and social notions of femininity. She is highly influenced by eyelashes, vintage Emilio Pucci, Victorian textile, Art Nouveau, girls and hearts. Her oil paintings are a unique combination of classical realistic rendering and graphic textile design. She graduated with honors in 2006 from Otis College of Art and Design with a B.F.A in illustration. She’s currently residing in New York City working towards her M.F.A. in painting. She spends long days painting in her pink apartment with her new kitten Hera.

Bryten Goss on being an artist in Los Angeles instead of Paris or New York." Bryten Goss was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and died in October 2006, he was 30 years old.

His ability to paint first emerged when he five and the significance of that early period was not lost on those who recognized his true potential, especially his mother. Understandably, Goss began searching for his true vocation in his early teens, ultimately deciding to follow his first true love--painting. A self-taught painter, Goss traveled the world at seventeen in search of the impressionistic material in which he first became recognized by his many patrons.

As he advanced, he studied the female form, and considered himself a figurist painter. That is until he painted the Triumph of Death series, which led to yet another turn in his work, city scapes, burning cities and buildings. Then he started painting images not like anything before, "Alex Riding a Pig," "The Little Pope," "The Blind Leading the Blind." The progression led to his most powerful work yet, "Women Riding Pigs." Some of his many collectors are: Nicolas Cage, Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, Nick Nolte, Joey Pantoliano, Wynona Rider, Giovanni Ribisi, Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon, Chris Masterson, Jenna Elfman, and others. Goss' career began with privately funded shows in 1993, with annual exhibitions. In 2001 InStyle Magazine hosted a red carpet affair at Quixote Studios in Hollywood, California, attended by many of Hollywood's elite. With 34 pieces on show that evening the exhibition sold out and garnered a great deal of well-deserved publicity for the prolific young artist. Goss was an integral part of a group show held in October 2002 at the “Downtown Independent Gallery” at 811 Traction. The show featured Goss, world-renowned artist, Gottfried Helnwein, and two other painters, Patrick Morrison and the now late Miguel Arguello. In the summer of 2003, Goss was part of the ever-popular artists’ festival, “Scope-Art Los Angeles” which was held in the Standard Hotel downtown Los Angeles.

Goss began walking on yet another journey one which only the old masters have walked--etching. He researched the etching techniques favored by the old masters; thus finding another medium in which to produce his messages. Goss took on a year-long commission of “Women Riding Pigs,” 25’X6’, oil on linen, for wealthy patron Roberto Santos of Mexico. After having personally delivered that piece in September 2006 in Mexico, Goss fell ill. He returned home to continue his work, preparing for his NYC Exhibition, and his health turned for the worse. Pneumonia, complicated by a virus which attacked his heart, Bryten Goss passed away from heart failure on October 26th, 2006.

"My name is Jason Chan and I like to draw .
I was born and raised in Stockton, California in 1983. After high school I moved out to San Francisco to study 3D animation at the Academy of Art University, but promptly changed my major to illustration and graduated in the Spring of 06. I am now working at Massive Black.

As I said, I love to draw. Ever since I was a kid I've always been drawing characters for make believe video games, cartoons and comics. I also loved drawing my favorite X-men characters, warcraft heroes, and video game sprites. I drew a million Mega Man and Mario drawings. As I grew up, that love for video games and fantasy never left me. I grew to love fantasy novels and that inspired my work. Many of my favorite video games were japanese made so as I drew the characters from those games, I began to fall for the anime style. Of course, that lead me to watch anime - an addiction I still haven't been able to shake. After a couple of yearsof horrible attempts at manga style art, I began school in San Francisco and actually got some decent life drawing and anatomy practice. I began to to be exposed to some of the western masters such as Sargent, Leyendecker, Rockwell, and Frazetta. I embraced the esthetics of western art and tried to improve myself in that direction. Now I am trying to marry my western art education with my eastern art interest and see what happens.

Weisman Foundation, and has been included in publications such as ArtReview (London), The New York Times, Queens Chronical, Etapes Graphiques (France), MasterMind, The New York Art World, and Animal Magazine (forthcoming).

Zhong Biao is one of the most unusual and modern figures among the Chinese contemporary artists working today.

Born in 1968 in Chongqing, he studied art at the fine arts academy in Hangzhou, then became a professor at the Sichuan academy of fine arts. At just 35, this artist has already established an internationally recognized career, showing his work not only in China but also in museums and art galleries around the world, from London, Brussels, and Amsterdam to Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, and Bangkok.

His work, extremely avant-garde, questions notions of time in China today, and focuses on the country’s rapidly advancing transformation, whether economic, architectural, esthetic, or emotional--rapid changes that intrigue, excite, and stimulate most contemporary Chinese artists. Zhong Biao’s works address the resulting blend of Asian and Western cultures, and the adjustment this metamorphosis forces upon the young generation.

His paintings utilize the flawless pictorial techniques of the classical beaux-arts academies with great virtuosity, so that they border on Hyperrealism. His canvases present figurative, narrative scenes, where the protagonists, like beings from another planet, are propelled into a world in utter transformation.

Milo Manara es el pseudónimo del historietista italiano Maurillo Manara, nacido en la localidad italiana de Luson (provincia de Bolzano) el 12 de septiembre de 1945.

Su vocación inicial fue la de pintor. Tras intentar vivir de la pintura sin éxito, fue asistente del escultor español Miguel Ortíz Berrocal.
Durante sus estudios de arquitectura en la Universidad de Venecia, en 1968 lanza su primer cómic, Genius, una combinación de género negro y erotismo publicada en formato de bolsillo. En 1972 dibuja la serie Jolanda de Almaviva, con guión de Francesco Rubino, y paralelamente realiza carteles y otros trabajos gráficos para agrupaciones políticas. Fruto de su concienciación social en esa época son sus diversos cómics con fuerte mensaje político, como Alessio il Borghese, Telerompo y Strategia della Tensione (para el partido socialista italiano), todos con guión de Sileverio Pisù. Con el mismo guionista realiza en 1976 El Rey Mono, adaptación de una leyenda folclórica china, aparecida en la revista Alter. Para el semanario juvenil Corriere dei Ragazzi ilustra La parola alla giuria (guión de Mino Milani) y para el editor francés Larousse elabora varios episodios de sus colecciones L´histoire en bandes dessinées y La découverte du monde. Participa en la colección Un hombre, una aventura con el álbum El monje del Tíbet (guión de Alfredo Castelli).
En 1979 aparece en la revista À Suivre su primera obra como único autor, H.P., primera entrega de Las aventuras de Giuseppe Bergman, en la que rinde homenaje a Hugo Pratt. Con este último como guionista tendría ocasión de colaborar en 1983 con "Verano Indio" y nuevamente tiempo después con El gaucho. Además de hacer vivir a Giuseppe Bergman nuevas hazañas en los álbumes Tal vez soñar, Aventuras africanas y Camino oculto, 1983 presencia asimismo el debut de su obra más célebre, Clic, que lo encumbrará como uno de los grandes autores de cómic erótico y conocerá hasta cuatro partes, además de ser llevado al teatro y al cine de imagen real. Dentro del mismo género, Manara lanza sucesivamente El perfume del invisible —del que existe una secuela, Desnuda por la ciudad, y una adaptación animada—, Cámara indiscreta, Gulliveriana, Kamasutra, La metamorfosis de Lucio, El arte del azote, Cita fatal y WWW. En una línea más satírica, Revolución (2000) es una crítica a los poderes de las cadenas televisivas. Recientemente ha vuelto al erotismo, combinándolo con la ciencia ficción, en Piranesi: el planeta prisión.
Manara ha colaborado también con Federico Fellini, para el que realizó carteles de algunas de sus películas y la versión en historieta de dos guiones suyos que no llegó a llevar al cine, Viaje a Tulum y El viaje de G. Mastorna. Para el también cineasta Pedro Almodóvar ilustra su novela Fuego en las entrañas. En tiempos recientes se ha consagrado preferentemente a la ilustración y la publicidad, además de realizar cómics para soporte digital y de diseñar los personajes para el largometraje de animación francés La légende de Parva.
