Christina nació en Iraklion Crete (Grecia) en 1980. La joven artista utiliza el Photoshop para desarrollar sus creaciones. De formación autodidacta, trabaja como ilustradora pero también estudia medicina por lo que ella misma no se define como artista.

A partitipado en el 2nd International art festival Chania 2004, de Creta, Grecia, y ganó un premio en el Expose2 artbook, por la obra "Folly of dress Code".

Buscando una biografía sólo he encontrado una escueta declaración en su lugar que acerca de su biografía y del mundo fotográfico dice: "It keeps me alive" (esta me mantiene vivo).

Aunque por las fotografías también podemos adivinar que le gusta mucho viajar, y que su lugar de residencia habitual es Amsterdam (Holanda).

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Edson has enjoyed sketching and painting since childhood, and he has become a completely self-taught artist. He moved to the United States in 1978 and quickly established himself as an artist of the highest caliber. He has exhibited his lifelike paintings and drawings at major cities throughout the country, winning many awards and much recognition. Edson's artwork has also been published in Playboy and Penthouse magazines, and has been commissioned to grace the walls of all 500 rooms in the Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach, California. Edson has participated in the acclaimed Art Expo New York, where his work was highly praised.
Edson has achieved much success with his work that the November 1999 issue of The Artist's Magazine featured his work in a special section on painting techniques.
At the prestigious Coconut Grove Art Festival in 2002 and 2003 Edson received the Award of First Place. His Artwork has been displayed at many Art Festivals thru out the U.S.A. where he has claimed numerous awards. Edson was also honored with the Title of " Artist of the Year " by Orlando Modern Art Collection in 2003.
In Edson's extensive travels, especially through out Europe, where he can visit and study the paintings and sculptures of his favorite Masters, has been a great source of inspiration.

Elisabeth Louise Vigée-Lebrun

Elisabeth Louise Vigee-Le Brun(1755-1842). Born in Paris, this court painter acquired fame in her homeland as well as throughout Europe. Vigee-LeBrun was mostly a self taught artist, but she received some artistic training from her father prior to his death and she was given advice by Greuze and Venet. Vigee-LeBrun traveled extensively and became a major player in 18th century high society despite her middle class upbringing. A professional portrait painter by the age of 15 years old, Vigee-LeBrun made considerable amounts of money and achieved economic independence for her family. A prolific artist, her work came to the attention of Marie Antoinette and in 1778 Vigee-LeBrun became court painter for the Queen. She became a member of the Royal Academy in 1783 but was forced to flee France in 1789 because of the Revolution and her close ties with the Queen. During her twelve years in exile, Vigee-Lebrun traveled to Italy, Vienna, Prague and Dresden. She was permitted re-entry into France in 1802, after 255 of her artist colleagues petitioned for her return. She traveled to St. Petersburg and London before returning to Paris in 1805 where she remained for the rest of her life. She continued to paint and was made an honorary member of the Societe pour l'Advancement des Beaux-arts in Geneva. In the 1830's she published her memoirs which give insight to her travels and her artistic career.

No hay ningún dato sobre el artista, sólo lo que muestra en sus fotografías que es un gusto hacia el mundo del bondage. Visitar su página puede ser un poco desesperante porque las imágenes que aparecen en el menú lateral van cambiando continuamente, y cuando uno ve una fotografía que le interesa e intenta pinchar sobre esta, igual esta ya a desaparecido y hay que ser paciente hasta que esta vuelva a aparecer.

Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (1863 - 1923). Pintor español. Nació el 27 de febrero de 1863 en Valencia. A los dos años queda huérfano y es recogido por sus tíos maternos. En 1877 es matriculado en la Escuela de Artesanos y comenzó a formarse con el escultor Cayetano Capuz, después ingresó en la Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos, mientras trabaja como cerrajero y coloreando fotografías. Desde muy joven se decantó por la pintura al aire libre tratando de captar la luminosidad mediterránea. Partió a París y Roma donde completó su educación. En 1890 regresó a España, comenzando en Madrid, una trayectoria profesional jalonada de éxitos, premios e importantes encargos: Primera Medalla Nacional de Bellas Artes en 1892 y 1895, y el Gran Prix de la Exposición de París de 1900, entre otros muchos reconocimientos. De este periodo destacan obras de crítica social como Y aún dicen que el pescado es caro (1894, Museo del Prado). Entre sus temas preferidos hay que destacar su dedicación al paisaje levantino, de ambiente costero, siempre con presencia humana, que plasma con un protagonismo absoluto de la luz que hace vibrar los colores y marca el movimiento de las figuras como en Niños en la playa (1910, Museo del Prado), Paseo a orillas del mar (1909) y El baño del caballo (1909, Museo Sorolla, Madrid). Su popularidad se extendió por toda Europa, realizando exposiciones en París (1906), Berlín y Colonia (1907) y Londres (1908), para después exhibir sus cuadros en varias ciudades de Estados Unidos. En Nueva York realizó la decoración de la sala principal de la Hispanic Society of America, presidida por Archer Milton Huntington, formada por catorce grandes paneles dedicados a representar las gentes y costumbres de las diversas regiones de España. En 1914 fue elegido académico de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. En 1920 sufrió una grave enfermedad, que le llevó a la muerte el 10 de agosto de 1923.

Mark Ryden came to preeminence in the 1990’s during a time when many artists, critics and collectors were quietly championing a return to the art of painting. With his masterful technique and disquieting content, Ryden quickly became one of the leaders of this movement on the West Coast.Upon first glance Ryden’s work seems to mirror the Surrealists’ fascination with the subconscious and collective memories. However, Ryden transcends the initial Surrealists’ strategies by consciously choosing subject matter loaded with cultural connotation. His dewy vixens, cuddly plush pets, alchemical symbols, religious emblems, primordial landscapes and slabs of meat challenge his audience not necessarily with their own oddity but with the introduction of their soothing cultural familiarity into unsettling circumstances.

Viewers are initially drawn in by the comforting beauty of Ryden’s pop-culture references, then challenged by their circumstances, and finally transported to the artist’s final intent – a world where creatures speak from a place of childlike honesty about the state of mankind and our relationships with ourselves, each other and our past.

Clearly infused with classical references, Ryden’s work is not only inspired by recent history, but also the works of past masters. He counts among his influences Bosch, Bruegel and Ingres with generous nods to Bouguereau and Italian and Spanish religious painting. Over the past decade, this marriage of accessibility, craftsmanship and technique with social relevance, emotional resonance and cultural reference has catapulted Ryden beyond his roots and to the attention of museums, critics and serious collectors. Ryden’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, including a recent museum retrospective “Wondertoonel” at the Frye Museum of Art in Seattle and Pasadena Museum of California Art.

Mark Ryden was born in Medford Oregon. He received a BFA in 1987 from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles where he paints slowly and happily amidst his countless collections of trinkets, statues, skeletons, books, paintings and antique toys.

Canadian-born artist Gregory Colbert began his career in Paris making documentary films about social issues. Filmmaking led to his work as a fine arts photographer, and the first public exhibition of his work was held in 1992 at the Musée de l’Elysée in Switzerland.

For the next ten years, Colbert showed no films and exhibited none of his art. Instead, he travelled to such places as India, Burma, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Dominica, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tonga, Namibia and Antarctica to film and photograph wondrous interactions between human beings and animals.

In 2002, he launched the Ashes and Snow exhibition in Italy at the Venice Arsenale, a 125,000-square-foot 15th-century shipyard owned by the Italian navy. It was the largest solo exhibition ever mounted in Italy. The Nomadic Museum debuted with the opening of Ashes and Snow in New York on the Hudson River’s Pier 54, and subsequently migrated to Santa Monica, California.

More than one million people have attended the show since the beginning of its journey in Venice. The project has been embraced by a general as well as a critical audience, and Gregory Colbert received the 2006 Lucie Award for Curator of the Year for the Ashes and Snow installation at the Nomadic Museum in New York and the 2007 THEA Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Museum or Touring Attraction.

Colbert continues his expeditions and the development of Ashes and Snow.

Antes de dedicarse a la fotografía estudió electrónica en Dresde. Más tarde, trabajó como retratista y fotógrafo de moda independiente en París, donde se instaló en 1928. En 1940 emigró a USA donde realizó numerosos trabajos para LIFE.

En 1949, la publicación de sus imágenes de saltos, una serie de fotos de grandes personalidades que saltaban por el aire delante de su cámara, tuvo un gran éxito. En esa serie, Halsman manifiesta su sentido del humor a la vez ingenioso y bromista, que impregnaría toda su producción fotográfica.

También tiene una gran importancia el elemento surrealista de sus trabajos enraizado, seguramente en su gran amistad con Salvador Dalí. Halsman trabajó durante treinta años con Dalí en diversos proyectos en los que el fotógrafo transcribía las ideas del pintor, en el lenguaje de su propio medio artístico.

Para muchos críticos, ésta ha sido la pintora italiana más relevante de la historia del arte, hasta el siglo XX. Hija de un reputado pintor, Orazio Gentileschi, Artemisia nació en 1593 y llegó a convertirse en una artista única, independiente en todos los terrenos, incluso en el económico, capaz de desarrollar su talento hasta límites insospechados.

A la edad de 17 años pintó su primera obra maestra, Susana y los viejos, una escena del Antiguo Testamento representada con un alto contenido erótico, donde el personaje femenino intentaba taparse viéndose observada por ellos.

Poco después, sucedió algo que cambió su vida ya que un amigo de su padre la violó. Tras el juicio, el violador salió indemne gracias a sus buenos contactos, pero Artemisia se vio afectada por el deshonor y la rabia que más tarde manifestó en su pintura. Se especializó en grandes cuadros de temática bíblica o histórica que estaban representados por mujeres fuertes, guerreras y violentas que no tenían ningún problema en suicidarse o asesinar si de esa manera salvaban a su pueblo o protegían su propio honor.

Su cuadro más conocido es Judith decapitando a Holopherne.Su pintura estaba influida por la estética de Caravaggio, así representó mujeres de físico rotundo, de intenso colorido y de realismo minucioso. Sus obras fueron pretendidas por diversos papas, como Gregorio XV y Urbano VIII.

Tras la muerte de su marido, ella tomó por entero las riendas de su vida al no tener que estar bajo el dominio masculino; y, así, se dedicó a crear, a gestionar sus asuntos económicos, a negociar con los clientes y a exigir los pagos retrasados.

Artemisia Gentileschi tuvo dos hijas a las que educó de manera exquisita y, a lo largo de su vida, consiguió todo aquello que se propuso muriendo a los 60 años de edad, en el año 1653.
