Mark was born 1966 in Germany to an old family of artists. His Greatest joy when growing up was to paint and to play with his grandfather´s old Rolleiflex cameras.
After leaving shool he completed training in photo engraving and worked as a draughtsman for a cloth printing company. After his duty in the military, he undertook studies at the Education Centre for Digital Media in Karlsruhe. The city pleased him so much that he has remained there to this day.
“I had my first work experiences in industry, which I did not like at all. He worked for several advertising agencies as an excellent designer & photographer. In Time, photography became his passion. He demonstrates an intense, personal and profoundly perception. Using an exqusite, essentially romantic pictorial language he remains at the same time always formally correct and with perfect focus on the aesthetics of black and white photography.
This combination of strong artistic discipline with a very personal and intimate vision gives the images a unique and powerful emotional charge, producing body landscapes full of intimate surprises. Marks Anglo-American focus made him a famous artist in the United States & United Kingdom and he became one of the top contemporary photographers.

Jasper Johns (Augusta, Georgia, 15 de mayo de 1930 - ). Pintor, escultor y artista gráfico estadounidense que ha integrado a su expresión pictórica una serie de elementos del Arte Pop. En 1954 empezó a pintar obras que se centraban en temas como banderas estadounidenses, números y letras del alfabeto. Pintaba con objetividad y precisión, aplicando gruesas capas de pintura de modo que el propio cuadro se convirtiera en un objeto y no sólo en la reproducción de objetos reconocibles. Esta idea de 'arte-como-objeto' se convirtió en una poderosa influencia en la escultura y la pintura posteriores. En algunos cuadros Johns añadía objetos reales sobre el lienzo, como reglas y compases. A principios de 1987 volvió a abrir una nueva senda al exponer en la ciudad de Nueva York un ciclo de cuatro obras tituladas Las estaciones. Se considera que estas pinturas, de 2 m por 1,25 m, han sido especialmente significativas para la historia del arte estadounidense.

Terry Rodgers (American, 1949). Terry Rodgers is an excellent figurative artist. The human figure fascinates him. He uses it as a complex vehicle for intriguing social commentary as well as for thoughtful studies of individuals."
Rodgers has a BA from Amherst College and has work in many public, corporate and private collections including the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. House of Representatives Office Building and others throughout the United States and England.
"My paintings are large, complex designs that attempt to reflect my sense of the times we are living in, and both how richly interesting they are and how difficult it is for most of us to navigate their uncharted waters. There is a great push and pull, the lure and the repulsion, the fiction and the real, the known and the unknown. And we live in this swirl of delicate gestures, driving desires, fantasy, economic complexity and interdependence, isolation and hope. I am trying to render some notion of this rich fabric.
Infinite fascination with details and dynamic pictorial architecture in combination with frustrated and sublimated desires make for a curious, static combustion in a painting. I attempt to map out these forces in western culture with a sense of their infinitely regenerative power.
And it's about the viewer—how we interpret and react to what we see, how we are the people in the paintings—and how they are us.
The paintings are not meant to judge or criticize. I am looking closely at who we are, the density of influences upon us, the mistakes we make, and the recognitions that occur in trying to navigate a universe with no sign posts. The figures in my paintings often are seen at a moment where some recognition or self-reflection seems to be taking place. These moments of recognition are metaphors for grappling with the unknown. Perhaps something is missing from their lives and they don't necessarily know what it is. They are metaphors for the search. My reaction to the figures and their gestures is sympathy, not judgment.My hope is that ultimately these paintings show fragile, genuine human beings trying to make something of what they are confronted with. Each of them is unique in their individuality—in their hair, their eyes, their lips, their hands—and they are all separately struggling and often finding merely surface solutions and ephemeral escapes to the timeless riddles of consciousness."

Greg Friedler



Greg Friedler

Greg Friedler was born in New Orleans in 1970. He received his BA in Political Science and French from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1993. Greg received his Masters of Fine Art in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1996. Greg’s thesis for graduate school, Naked New York, was published as a monograph book by W.W. Norton in 1997. Greg continued to publish more monographs with WW Norton including Naked Los Angeles and Naked London. Mattress was published as a monograph by Goliath in 2001.
Greg has been widely covered by the media. He was featured in an hour long documentary for Channel 5 in Great Britain on the making of Naked London. His work has been featured and written about in countless magazines and newspapers including The Washington Post, The London Times, British GQ, The Los Angeles Times Magazine, The New York Observer, The Face, The Village Voice, Time Out- Paris, London, and New York. Greg has been inspired by numerous photographers including Diane Arbus, Sally Mann, Walker Evans, and Richard Avedon. He also has been influenced by the work of painters, Lucian Freud and Egon Schiele and Jenny Saville.
Greg’s work is best described as “raw.” He intuitively reveals people in a real, honest light with a straight-forward approach. Friedler is indeed a portraitist who is fascinated by people and humanity. His portraits attempt to unmask the subject of their veneer. Greg is interested in identity and how people fit into society.
Greg’s work can be seen in more than 8 anthologies published in the United States and Europe. Greg lives in Denver where he shoots varied commercial work as well as his personal work. His work has been shown in more than 8 exhibitions in the United States as well as Europe.

Nydia Lozano

Nydia Lozano Piqueras nació el 4 de febrero de 1947 en Alginet , un pueblo de la Ribera de Valencia. El nombre de Nydia evoca el personaje de Bulwer-Lytton en su Los últimos días de Pompeya, si bien el párroco se negó a un bautizo con un nombre pagano de modo que Nydia hubo de ser bautizada como Laura.
Cuando su padre comprobó la intensidad de esta afición no dudó en visitar a José Espert para conocer su opinión sobre los dibujos. El maestro de Alginet José Espert había heredado la visión de la gran escuela valenciana, tal como Romero Ressendi, de quien fue amigo, culminó la evolución de la pintura andaluza.
Espert se mostró impresionado por los dibujos e invitó a José Lozano a traer a su hija al taller. Allí Nydia pasó muchas horas viendo pintar al maestro y escuchando sus opiniones sobre la pintura. Allí aprendió, mucho más que una técnica, la forma de mirar y entender, el concepto de síntesis pictórica que los maestros del siglo XIX habían alcanzado y que a principios de los 60, tras la muerte de Manuel Benedito o Salvador Tuset -por citar a dos maestros valencianos, ambos discípulos de Sorolla- había caído en el olvido o más bien en la desconsideración consciente.
En 1965 Nydia Lozano se matriculó en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Carlos de Valencia, donde se coincidió con su futuro marido, el pintor Leopoldo Sánchez. La Escuela -hoy Facultad de la Universidad Politécnica- se encontraba entonces en el antiguo Convento del Carmen. Entre sus profesores se contaban Francisco Lozano y Genaro Lahuerta, las dos grandes figuras de la pintura valenciana de posguerra, si bien resultaban mucho más eficaces como docentes José Ros o Calatayud, que apreciaban tanto a sus alumnos como a la pintura. Durante los años en la Escuela entraron en contacto con la vanguardia que dominaba entonces el panorama artístico: Equipo Crónica, José Iturralde, Eusebio Sempere, Fernando Zóbel, Gustavo Torner, etc.
La primera exposición de ambos fue una colectiva junto a Vicente Silvestre celebrada en el Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia en enero de 1969. En aquella época Nydia Lozano recibió varios premios, como el Ciudad de Játiva en 1965, la Medalla de la Bienal de Artes Plásticas de la Caja de Ahorros del Sureste en 1968 o, en el mismo año, la Medalla de Plata del Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia, por la que fue pensionada en Segovia. En 1970 disfrutó de una beca en Roma otorgada por la Fundación Castellblanch.
Tras terminar la carrera en 1971, Nydia Lozano y Leopoldo Sánchez contrajeron matrimonio, dejando Valencia por Barcelona en 1974. Allí iniciaron su carrera de exposiciones por toda España: Madrid (galerías Ingres, Zúccaro, Patto’s en Becerril de la Sierra y Mellado en San Lorenzo de El Escorial), Valencia (Benlliure, Puchol, Pizarro), Bilbao (Iris), Barcelona (Segura Viudas) y otras capitales españolas como Zaragoza, Burgos, Logroño, Albacete o Málaga.
Durante su estancia en Barcelona, que duró hasta 1991, efectuaron numerosos viajes por toda España que a menudo sirvieron como una fuente de temas para su obra pictórica. Fueron especialmente atraídos por la vida y los paisajes de la provincia de Cádiz, adquiriedo una casa en el pueblo de Vejer de la Frontera.
En verano del 91 se instalaron en Galifa, un pequeño valle en la costa sur de Murcia. Desde allí han continuado su labor exponiendo en diversas galerías del extranjero: Ambassador Galleries de Nueva York, Adamson-Duvannes Galleries de Los Angeles y Simic-New Renaissance de Carmel-by-the-Sea y Addison de Boca Raton (Florida), así como Espace Raub de Brest, Euroarte de Lisboa e Inter Arte de Oporto. En España han sido invitados a participar en las ferias de arte Artexpo (Barcelona), Interarte (Valencia) y Artesantander.
En 1996, junto a su amigo Philippe Martin, fundaron en Murcia La Galería de Arte Convard, supliendo la carencia en esta ciudad de una galería dedicada al arte realista español.

East German artist Olaf Martens (born 1963 in Halle, Germany). His work will also be shown at Paris Photo 2006.
Martens is interested in staging his pictures like a theatre play. In his often humorously constructed images, Martens combines a take on fashion, documentary, conceptual, social, and even animal photography and art historical and socio-political references. His work cannot be categorised but is a combination of what can be termed a kind of post - modern eclecticism.
Martens undermines the seemingly homogenous facade of the photographic. His works is characterised by uniting contrary details, and refiguring them in a very unique and hybrid manner. This leaves many questions to the viewer, not apparent on first glance.
The theme of the outside and the outsider has been a recurring theme in Martens work from the very beginning. His images are most often taken in broken factories, the outskirts of cities, in cities like Russia, Czechoslovakia, Turkey and East Germany. The outsider roles recurring in Martens' world, in a sense similar to David Lynch's imagery, are cleaning women, dwarfs, seamstresses, overly fat women, strippers, dancers, transvestites etc. They inhabit and take the opposite end of the spectrum, as Martens ironically combines them with, at first glance, seemingly flawless models. Yet, the model appears in latex, gas masks, workers' outfits and high heels, adding another hybrid layer to his work.
Another recurring theme is the idea of the accident and imperfection. Often people are wounded or in dangerous situations. Or people are rushing through his scenes that should not really be there. It is important that the models often have their eyes half closed, or that the image itself exists by purely coincidence.
The more the viewer engages in Olaf Martens' constructed worlds, the more complex his images become, as the Russian dolls that seemingly bear endless numbers of dolls inside each other.
Olaf Martens allows us to indulge and re-negotiate our own levels of fantasy, making his work highly interesting.Olaf Martens studied photography at the highly renowned Leipzig Academy for "Graphik und Buchkunst". His contemporaries are the well-known "Leipzig School" with artists such as Neo Rauch, Tim Eitel or Tilo Baumgärtel.
His work has been exhibited in many museum group exhibitions on contemporary German photography as well as in solo exhibitions at the Kunst Museum Bonn, Grassi Museum Leipzig, Moscow House of photography, Leopold Museum Vienna, German Historical Museum in Berlin, to name but a few. Concurrently to the show at Galerie f5,6, Martens' work is also being shown in a one-man show at the Kunstforum in Halle. He has exhibited in galleries nationally and internationally. His work is included in collections such as the FC Gundlach Collection and the Sammlung Goetz, Munich.
His work has appeared in Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin, Der Spiegel, Art and Stern, Harpers Bazaar Russia and many more. He has published five books on his work.

Fotógrafo sueco nacido en Örnsköldsvik. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Stockholm. Tiene estudios de tres años de fotógrafía. Su verdadero nombre prefiere mantenerlo al margen de la red.
Es el responsable de la campaña de T-post, en la cual uno se podía sucribir a recibir camisetas con una temática del momento (una cada seis semanas), y en el interior de la camiseta el artículo correspondiente al que hace referencia la camiseta. Iniciativa en la que da un giro de tuerca a la suscripción online de revistas de moda.

Marie-Victoire Lemoine (1754-1820). Pintora de estilo neoclásico. Marie-Victoire Lemoine nació en Pair y puede que haya sido alumna de la pintora Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun. El cuadro Estudio del pintor es probablemente un retrato de Vigee-Lebrun.
Lemoine se ganó la vida haciendo retratos y pintando miniaturas, y formó parte de una generación de mujeres que alcanzó un cierto exito profesional. La carrera de Lemoine pasó por diversos periodos, antes y después de la Revolución francesa.

Robert Bilbil (aka “bijou”) est une vraie figure. La quarantaine passée, il conseve cette dégaine rock-and roll sans se soucier des modes. Un style photo brut de décoffrage, qui refuse la sophistication pour faire naitre l’inattendu, qui n’a pas d’equivalent à Marseille.

“Bilou” is a real character, 40 plus years old and still has that rock ‘n’ roll attitude and doesn’t worry about been in style. His photographic style is totally unrefined, refusing sophistication to give rise to the unexpected, which is unequalled in Marseille.

"In my past I was working for television as a director and editor. So, visual arts were not unfamiliar to me when I started taking pictures. I got my first camera in 1995 while traveling to Southeast Asia.
Only 2 years ago when I bought my first digital camera I began taking photography more seriously. It happened shortly before my graduation from medical school in Budapest, and I started exploring the beauty of the city with my new camera. Since then I have a great passion for photography."
