“I was born in Berlin which was devided at that time, and I still live and work there today.

Actually, photographing has always been my hobby. Photography and its technique were matters of particular interest already in my early life.

Later, due to different other duties like e.g. course of study, this hobby inevitably took a back seat many a time.

After course of study and start of work life my interests in photography were stimulated again - in a manner of speaking as compensation for job related daily-life.

In a short time my requirements increased and the good old camera was replaced by a Minolta 9000 which accompanied me reliably on many - in part very adventurous - travels through South America and Asia.

Then, in parallel to the photography, I found a new hobby - the nude painting. Fascinated by the thought to show the feminine body realistically but in artistic vein, I improved my painting technique from picture to picture.

My first success by selling some pictures gave me a boost to go on in this way.

It was only a small step from the nude painting to the nude photography - and it became my focal point.

I offer this site to give a broad public an understanding of my pictures.”

Historietista mediático por excelencia, Enki Bilal (Belgrado, 1951) ha logrado en los últimos años convertir en noticia cada nuevo lanzamiento de sus obras. Si el estreno de su última trilogía con El sueño del monstruo ya hizo correr, en la medida de lo posible, ríos de tinta, la llegada de 32 de diciembre no le va a la zaga. Bilal es, sobre todo en su país de adopción, Francia, algo así como un fenómeno cultural, una estrella de la BD, tal y como lo prueba el hecho de que su esperado álbum saldrá al mercado con una tirada inicial de más de 300.000 ejemplares.

Debutante en 1972 en la popular Pilote, entrará allí en contacto con los grandes nombres de la historieta francesa, y precisamente durante sus primeros años en la revista se le considerará discípulo de Moebius tanto estética como temáticamente. En aquel entorno se iniciará su prolífica colaboración con el creador de Valerian, Pierre Christin, con quién firmará un total de seis trabajos entre 1975 y 1983. Pero pocos años antesya había decidido lanzarse al ruedo en solitario con La feria de los inmortales, primera entrega de la que luego sería conocida como Trilogía Nikopol, que se completaría con La mujer trampa y Frío Ecuador.

Artista inquieto, director de cine, pintor e ilustrador, se ha convertido, con algo más de cincuenta años, en un clásico de la historieta y en un referente para muchos creadores. Desde su afición por la aventura y la ciencia-ficción, género de moda en los 80 y donde creó escenariosmaravillosos, logró evolucionar a través de la experimentación gráfica hasta forjar un imaginario propio complejo y difícil de imitar.

Georg Baselitz, nombre artístico de Hans-Georg Kern (Sajonia, 1938), es uno de los creadores europeos más destacados de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, y puede considerarse un descendiente de Munch, Matisse o Tàpies. Dentro del contexto del arte alemán de posguerra ha sido y es una de las figuras más originales y auténticas, al margen de escuelas o movimientos artísticos. Un momento clave en su biografía fue el año 1956, en que vio en Berlín la exposición The New American Painting, donde conoció la obra de artistas como Pollock y Guston, representantes del expresionismo abstracto, que le marcaron profundamente. La obra de Baselitz, cuya célebre imagen de marca son las figuras pintadas cabeza abajo, está a medio camino entre la figuración y la abstracción, y a menudo se le incluye, aunque erróneamente, en el neoexpresionismo. Después de exponer en las galerías y museos más prestigiosos del mundo, en 1995 el Guggenheim Museum de Nueva York organizó su primera retrospectiva. En España el artista ha sido galardonado recientemente con el Premio Internacional Julio González, de la Generalitat Valenciana. En octubre de este mismo año le será entregado el prestigioso Praemium Imperiale otorgado por la Asociación de Artistas del Japón.

"In 2004, I worked on a portrait series of women. These women were strangers before photographing them for this series. They responded to my online posting calling for females of all types to participate. Each was photographed in their bedrooms in natural and/or ambient light. This project provided the opportunity to meet women of many different backgrounds and to capture a part of their lives. My camera was a passport to enter places I might never have otherwise. The process was an immersion into a woman's life and molding it to make it my own. They are depictions of how I want the women to look - with a sentimental mood and intimacy, both diffident and confident. Her disposition, space, objects, clothing, makeup, and colors were used to create a milieu of sexuality, wonder, hope, nostalgia, loneliness, independence, resignation, intent, anxiety, and peace. The women are sharing a secret: I want them to be cherished, and then let go."

After developing into a major art star in Tokyo, at long last, Flores returns to Los Angeles with all new work for an exhibition at project: gallery. The exhibit opens March 10th, 2007 from 7-11pm and runs through March 31st.

"My name is David Flores. I am a stencil artist from Southern California. Representing ...as the collective since 2002. I am the guy who paints girls in gas masks. Sometimes they wear hardly anything, sometimes they wear more, but it is only for the photo. I am not sexist in any way, shape or form, and I feel that it is important that I clear that up. And while I am on the subject, I do not do heroine either, but it does happen out there and I think people neglect to see that fact, as well as poverty, war and equality. I love my life. I work hard at what I do, and won't stop until I get to where I want to be. I am currently building an empire. It appears to be happening slowly to some people, but it has all gone as planned thus far. I love hip-hop and it's culture. I like painting pictures of it's people. I don't use Photoshop for any of these paintings that I speak of".

2Urban Artist. Iranian born in Tehran. I started graffiti stencil from 2002 when I made the second stencil from acetate sheet in my life. It was the Munch's "Scream" which I wanted to spray in Our Art University walls. Why? because the Art scene is terrible in Iran and like any other environments it's full of obligations and controls. I did my job and after that i just worked and sprayed. It was not just the start for my work, but a start for Iranian graffiti scene which got to start 2 years later. Most of my time i am surfing the web, saving images and making stencils out of them. The rest of my time i am surfing the streets, taking photos and making stencils out of them. I make my life with graphic design and selling my canvases (paintings). So you see I have a miserable life".

Pieter Paul Rubens (Siegen, actual Alemania, 1577 - Amberes, actual Bélgica, 1640). Pintor flamenco. Fue el pintor barroco más destacado de la escuela flamenca.
Su padre, calvinista, hubo de refugiarse por motivos religiosos en Colonia, donde Rubens posiblemente comenzó su formación artística, continuada luego en Amberes, donde regresó a la muerte del padre.
Entre 1600 y 1608 realizó un prolongado viaje por Italia en el que visitó Venecia, Génova y Roma, estudiando a los maestros del Renacimiento italiano (Tiziano, Veronés, Tintoretto) y a los del incipiente barroco (Annibale Carracci, Caravaggio). También ejecutó varios encargos.
En 1609 casó con Isabel Brant. En segundas nupcias lo haría con Elena Fourment.
En 1627 viajó a Holanda, de 1628 a 1629 a Madrid y más tarde a Inglaterra, pues, además de pintor, fue diplomático al servicio de España.
Dominaba varias lenguas y fue muy pródigo en obras: se calculan unos 3000 cuadros los que llegó a pintar gracias –-sin duda-– a los miembros de su taller que al parecer trabajaban en cadena. Discípulos suyos fueron Jordaens y van Dyck.
Sus características como pintor son las siguientes: la realización de grandes cuadros para altares, el alegre colorido (no tenebrismo) y una temática que va desde bodegones opulentos a retratos aristocráticos pasando por temas mitológicos.
Entre sus obras destacan: el Descendimiento de Cristo (de carácter religioso, realizado entre 1611 y 1612), el Retrato ecuestre del duque de Lerma (retrato, 1603) y Las tres Gracias (mitológico, 1638), así como la serie dedicada a la reina de Francia María de Médicis.

Bill Ward (1919-1998) was essentially an accomplished illustrator who developed a speciality at which he became the unassailable master. Ward’s signature was the glamour girl, a completely sexist, non-PC representation of the American woman, which started life as a light hearted character called Torchy in a wartime GI magazine. The UK had its own equivalent in the Daily Mirror’s dippy Jane cartoon, but whereas Jane innocently giggled her way into numerous silly situations, Torchy sashayed her way through life oozing sex appeal and smarts.

After the War, Ward developed this character into a full blown sex siren, and the busty, long legged starlet in stilettos was born. Ward’s method was the sepia Conte crayon tonal drawing, which naturally lent itself to publishing by taking on a photographic quality when coloured in, and from the 1950s onwards his work appeared in a mass of what used to be known as ‘mens magazines’. This success lasted until photography started to dominate the genre, a imagery a lot more explicit – but strangely less erotic – than Ward’s drawings. In the decade that spawned Playboy, Bill Ward had to change his style to survive and he did this by developing a line in fetish characters which brought him into contact with transvestites and lifestyle bondage clubs. He rapidly attained cult status within this hidden world.

It would be a mistake to dismiss Ward as a cheap pornographer pandering to a salacious audience, using the drawing medium to avoid the full attention of the law. Many artists who attempted to imitate his style have failed miserably, and of those that used some of Ward’s extreme imagery for inspiration, a few are cult comic hero’s themselves, most notably Robert Crumb. It’s true that Ward did enter a bad patch in his career, when social mores changed and the permissive 60’s heralded in the Deep Throat era. He was forced to turn his skills to suggestive cartoons – a vulgar and more overtly sexual version of the seaside postcard, but without the element of innocent fun embodied by Donald McGill. He also illustrated lingerie catalogues selling risqué underwear (to good effect) and a host of ‘adult reading’ story magazine covers. All these artworks are now collector’s items and Taschen have done an outstanding job in presenting the complete Bill Ward, sourcing images and examples from the many facets of his long career. Ward’s original works are now avidly sought after by collectors across the world. Produced in a large format and in full colour, using a cartridge paper stock that reproduces the qualities of the originals perfectly, this book is itself destined to become a collectors item.

Egon Schiele (Tulln, Austria, 12 de junio de 1890 – Viena, 31 de octubre de 1918), fue un pintor austríaco contemporáneo de Gustav Klimt.
Fue uno de los alumnos aventajados de Gustav Klimt y junto con Oskar Kokoschka conforman lo que se conoce por expresionismo austríaco.
Su padre era jefe de estación; su madre originaria de Krumau (actualmente Český Krumlov), en Bohemia. En 1905 su padre muere y el joven Schiele es enviado a casa de un tío, el cual después de haberlo tentado inútilmente para que se dedicara a los ferrocarriles, descubre su talento artístico. Ya en esta época, empieza a pintar, en especial autorretratos.
En 1906 ingresa en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena, donde estudió dibujo y diseño. Frustrado por el ambiente conservador y cerrado, en 1909, abandona la Academia y funda la Neukunstgruppe. Ese año conoce la nueva teoría artística del estilo Secesión vienés, en particular a Gustav Klimt, que será para siempre modelo de admiración y un maestro muy influyente para Schiele. También Klimt le tendrá mucha estima, presentándole algunos ricos mecenas, que le asegurará una cierta estabilidad financiera como debutante en la escena artística vienesa.
En 1908, Schiele expone por primera vez, siendo un gran éxito. Abandona el rígido estilo de la Academia, y gira hacia el expresionismo: Junto a los retratos de amigos y autorretratos, representará el desnudo a través de una agresiva distorsión figurativa.
En 1911 conoce a Valerie (Wally) Neuzil de 17 años con la que entabla una relación sentimental y será su modelo para algunas de sus mejores obras. Schiele y Wally deciden marcharse de Viena para tratar de conseguir la inspiración en el campo y se van a Krumau (el pueblo de su madre).
Su forma de vida choca a los habitantes, y el máximo escándalo se produce en el 1912 cuando es acusado por corrupción de menores por la edad de su joven amante. Además era corriente que tomara como modelos a los niños que se acercaban a su casa y a menudo los retrataba desnudos o en posición que parecía obscena por lo que se consideró su obra más o menos como pornográfica. La conclusión de este hecho fue el arresto, una breve estancia en la cárcel y la quema de uno de sus dibujos.
Schiele volvió a Viena, gracias a su amigo Klimt, obtuvo numerosos encargos y volvió a lo alto de la escena artística austríaca, llegando a participar en muchas exposiciones internacionales. Su producción artística se hace muy numerosa en estos momentos, en su mayoría retratos y autorretratos.
Conoció a Edith y a Adele Harms, dos hermanas de clase burguesa y tras cortejar a ambas, se casó con Edith en 1914. El matrimonio lo dotó de una nueva estabilidad y resurgió una nueva fuerza pictórica influido por la obra del pintor Ferdinand Hodler. A los pocos días sobrevino la Primera Guerra Mundial y Egon Schiele, por pertenecer a lo que se considera la élite intelectual, no es enviado al frente. En 1918 participó con éxito en la cuadragésimonovena exposición de la Secesión de Viena, además de otras exposiciones en Zúrich, Praga y Dresde. En otoño de 1918 la epidemia gripe española (que causó más de 20 millones de muertos en Europa) asoló Viena. Edith, embarazada de seis meses, murió el 28 de octubre. Tres días después, el 31 de octubre de 1918, Egon Schiele murió a la corta edad de 28 años. En febrero de ese año también acabó la vida de su amigo y maestro Gustav Klimt.
