Egor Abramov

Egor Abramov

Personal portfolio of professional Russian photographer Roge, whose work transfers you into the realm of the sublime. He lives in Saint-Petersburg.

"Creativity as a reflection of me and communications with this world, attitudes with people surrounding me is that is interesting to me. A photo is not more than the tool for this creativity.
I don’t like to call my self a photographer, a “shaper” maybe, this term does not say about the person more than about his capability to issue an idea. The photographer is more likely a predicate of the shaper."

"At a glance Jerome could easily be imagined as a slightly perverse freak blending effortlessly into the deviant subcultures he documents... Or is he a chameleon of the highest order able to slip in and observe without being noticed? But he is noticed; he’s the urban ninja cyclist, the man with the inflatable forehead, the guy who cut his own finger off, the guy with all the scars. He’s also the well dressed artist at his openings, the well spoken TV guest challenging listeners to know themselves, the talented web designer. His work and his own image are well recognized in Europe, Japan, not to mention the Americas... at least in the right circles. Jerome Abramovitch moves seamlessly between object, subject, voyeur, and documenter.

Jerome has photographed many of the world's most extreme individuals, has documented the radical body modification community and sexual underground from the inside out, and worked closely with some of the biggest names in freakdom ever to spend five minutes being exploited by obscure cable TV stations."

Samantha Wolov

Joven fotógrafa norteamericana que vive en San Francisco. Tiene un blog llamado "Nekkid with a Camera". Es bastante sarcástico el slogan que cuelga al hablar sobre ella: "I take pictures of people having sex and call it art."

"My work is a response to a lot of social theory that I simply don’t agree with. First, people assume there are clearly established definitions of art and porn, but because everyone’s definitions are different and subjective, these concepts can’t be defined, so basing an argument on definitions isn’t effective. I also don’t agree with the binary that it’s art versus porn, denying the chance of any overlap. I see little aesthetic difference between “art” and “porn”. When I say that, I’m reacting to people who argue a traditional nude photograph is “art”, and a photograph in a magazine like Playboy is porn. Someone had to design those shots, develop the lighting, find the models, edit the pictures, and overall, needed an artistic eye and an attention to detail. So what, because of their venues, one is art and one is porn? Yes, there are spectrums for art and porn, and yes, sometimes there are obvious differences between them, but I want to focus on the overlap, on the times when you can’t tell the difference. If you can’t tell the difference between art and porn, what does that say about the definitions between the two? What does that say about societal notions towards porn, sexuality, and erotica?

Moreover, I think by pitting porn against art, you’re pitting the stigmas and associations around each against each other, too. It’s the nature of the binary. If art is supposed to represent culture, expression, class, refinement, and education, then porn, by nature of the binary, is supposed to represent lack of morals, lack of education, and lack of class. That’s not fair. People who enjoy pornography have every right to do so, and should, in no way, be made to feel guilty about this.

I want to take pictures that can’t clearly be labeled as art or porn, to encourage people to reevaluate their ideas of the two and perhaps recognize that not only is there overlap between them, but that the overlap isn’t disastrous. I’m not trying to proselytize, I just want people to think."

Mirela Bratu

Información de Photeur

Mirela Bratu, a photographer born in Bucharest in 1978, is a trained journalist who took up photography as a student. She won the second prize in a photo contest organized by Playboy Romania and has since been engaged almost exclusively in erotic photography. She works as a freelance photographer in Romania and had her first exhibition at the Goethe-Institut in Bucharest in 2002 as well as photographs published in various magazines (such as Stern, Germany). The color photographs which she nonchalantly lures from her simple Chinese Holga carry the poetry of decay with their blurs, shadings and double exposures to the present time. She precisely portrays her immediate environment, shows her melancholy female friends on her balcony – essentials without technical gimmicks. Michelangelo Antonioni would certainly have fallen in love with one of these beauties and written the script of a film as unfathomable and timeless as they are.

“I was born in Berlin which was devided at that time, and I still live and work there today.
Actually, photographing has always been my hobby. Photography and its technique were matters of particular interest already in my early life.
Later, due to different other duties like e.g. course of study, this hobby inevitably took a back seat many a time.
After course of study and start of work life my interests in photography were stimulated again - in a manner of speaking as compensation for job related daily-life.
In a short time my requirements increased and the good old camera was replaced by a Minolta 9000 which accompanied me reliably on many - in part very adventurous - travels through South America and Asia.
Then, in parallel to the photography, I found a new hobby - the nude painting. Fascinated by the thought to show the feminine body realistically but in artistic vein, I improved my painting technique from picture to picture.
My first success by selling some pictures gave me a boost to go on in this way.
It was only a small step from the nude painting to the nude photography - and it became my focal point.
I offer this site to give a broad public an understanding of my pictures.”

Martin Rafael Class is a photographer associated with Chicago’s fetish and BDSM scenes. Martin Rafael Class has been a photographer for 17 years now and is clearly addicted to women. He began his adventures in the realm of erotica having exchanged a radar detector for a camera and then finding employment in a studio where he learnt the techniques of printing and studio lighting. By his own admission though, he learnt more of his chosen trade by studying other people's work in libraries and watching old black and white movies. When not shooting on location as opposed to in a studio, he is often to be found in his dark room, hunched over development dishes and perfecting his art.

Sam Haskins

Información de OCAIW (Orazlo Centaro's Art Images on te Web).

Sam Haskins born in Johannesburg (South African) in 1926, moves to London in 1947 where he attends a photography school. In 1950 returns to Johannesburg opening a photography studio specializing in advertising. Back to London in 1968, after many moves, he inaugurates a photography studio.
His most important photo publications are "Five Girls", "Cowboy Kate", "November Girl", "African Image", "Sam Haskins in Bologna", and "Haskins Posters".
In Sam Haskins's female nudes, one can sense the careful and detailed professionalism of a still life photographer. He closely follows changes in fashion and new trends, writing: "After all, the public acceptance must be the main stimulus for any artist."
The black and white nudes present in "Cowboy Kate” are splendid: granulated details, deep blacks, odd cuts give a very high quality print. His photo assemblies are wonderful: the face of a model inside an apple, a tiny nude woman inserted within an unreal landscape of minerals, besides many others.
His most recent colour works are indescribably beautiful.

Robert Chouraqui

Robert Chouraqui
