Eugène Delacroix

Delacroix

Gerhardt Thompson

Gerhardt Thompson

Información de Absolute Arts.

Gerhardt Thompson is one of those rare artists who is able to unify multiple elements into a single, cohesive vision that is often far more spectacular than the sum of its parts. He specializes in photographing the human figure, specifically the female nude, and his penchant for mixing the graceful qualities of his human subjects with the natural landscapes of the Australian bush and beach are absolutely spellbinding. His alchemy of sunlight and shadow, flesh, sand, mortar, and stone, and the rush of the waves, are all ingredients to a magnificent vision. Gerhardt admits to admiring many photographers, Edward Weston being one of them, whose work is crafted around a harmony of form where the human body, although indispensable in the overall scheme of things, is not necessarily the main focus of the picture but is instead only of its key ingredients. The same sense of design runs through his veins as well. And it is a lovely and refreshing perspective.
Gerhardt Thompson, fine art nude photographer, earned an MD in Optics in 1980 at Sydney University, Australia and later earned his MBA through Harvard Business School, USA. He has been photographing for over 20 years of which the past 8 have been focused in the capacity of B&W fine art nude in the landscape. His accolades include a solo exhibit in Sydney, three International Exhibits where his work is featured and sold, 40 joint exhibits and four European based Exposes. He has been interviewed by The New Nude Magazine, MeinBerlin.de and Duclerk and his work has been also been published by each of them. He has also been published in the poetry journals The Sow's Ear Review and The Blue Fifth Review both based in the USA. He has published two books Gerhardt - The Book and The Sun Drenched Nude. He is a Judge for Photographic competitions on the photography website PhotoKonkurs.com. His work has won over 60 awards in both open and specific categories and over 70 acceptances/honorable mentions. Currently his photography hangs on walls around the world
Browse Thompson's body of work: Australia is such a unique country. Thousands of miles of pristine beaches, spectacular river ways, its bushlands and vast empty expanses, wherever you look there is something you will only see in Australia.

Jeffrey Gold

Jeffrey Gold

Painter Jeffrey Gold was born in Los Angeles in 1958 and continues to live and work in his native city. Graduating from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1983, his greatest individual artistic influence has been his former teacher Charles Bell, who died in 1995 yet whose extraordinary body of work and indefatigable mentorship remains indelibly inculcated in Gold's mind and experience. Just as Bell once stated how he was "concerned with feelings we share about familiar objects", Gold reflects both his powerful understanding of his predecessor's work and respect for him as a person in his own painting Still Life, Homage to Charles Bell.
When living and working in Rome in the early 1990's, Gold immersed himself in the cultural aspects of the Eternal City. His visits to the Villa Borghese inspired an ongoing love affair with the still life work of Italian Baroque master Caravaggio, whose dramatic use of light continues to awe and inspire Gold. Yet it was his strolls through the bustling vegetable, fruit and flower markets of Trastevere and Piazza Campo dei Fiori that honed his eye on still life as an irresistible subject matter.
The objects which appear in such still lifes and which give literal and metaphoric support to his immaculate flowers and fruit, such as the modernist red vase in his Still Life with Yellow Tulips, were all owned at one point or another by the artist and cherished by him. Thus a magical equipoise is preserved between the meticulousness of his renderings and the loving sentimentality and spiritual peace imbued in his forms.
Peace and love are recurring themes in Gold's portrait work as well. His sitters are amongst his closest friends, family members, former girlfriends and lovers, possibly a woman with whom he is presently romantically involved, and perhaps most poignantly his ex wife Ann-sofie, to whom he was married for fours years. Once again, a melding of physicality, sexual or merely corporeal, and tenderly disclosed inner beauty balance these evocative paintings of people. Gold seems to tell us that beauty is not transitory and ephemeral, but that it survives the total range of human experience and emotion.
Jeffrey Gold is represented by Forum Gallery, one of the leading representational galleries in the country with locations in New York City and Los Angeles. Working with Forum, examples of Gold's work are presently in many private as well as public collections throughout the United States and Europe. His painting Still Life with Lemons is included in the monumental exhibition Representing LA, which originated in December of 2000 at the Fry Art Museum in Seattle and is presently on view at the Laguna Museum of Art.

Agnes Montmayeur

Agnes Montmayeur
Agnes Montmayeur

"I was born in 1968 and I have a degree in the illustration department from the Emile Cohl school of Lyon. After that, I first worked as a writer and illustrator in books for the young people and I published several illustrated albums. Then I turned towards painting.
At first I painted portraits in oils, then I used ink and pastels while asiduously practicing drawing rough sketches from real models. In 2002, I bought a computer and very naturally I took up digital painting; as a matter of fact, even if the support changes the reasoning stricty remains the same.
My way of working is very simple: I take a series of photographs of people who are close to me in a situation which inspires me. These persons do not pose, I catch them unexpectedly in their everyday life. I, then, sketch a drawing on paper from the photos I took. After that I scan the drawing, and with Photoshop I select pieces of photos that I put together and adjust to my drawing. I also use the brush in places but I try my best not to lose most of the real elements and textures from my original photograph, so that the illusion is as disturbing as possible.Once finished, the pictures reflect my own vision of reality and people around me."

Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Rossetti
Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Información de Artehistoria

Dante Gabriel Rossetti (Londres 1828 - Birchington-on-sea 1882). Pintor estilo Prerafaelita.

Sir John Everett Millais (Southampton, 1829 - Londres,1896).

Roman Kasperski

Roman Kasperski

Roman Kasperski was born 1972 in Oberhausen - he started his career as a professional photographer in journalism. Since the middle of the nineties, he had numerous exhibitions and publications (complete list under 'Referenzen'), which put him aside next to well-known erotic photographers, but nevertheless lead him past this genre to the art scene.
Kasperski's work is based on a wide and firm technical foundation: rooted within the classic craft he uses the new media in a well considered way. The precise aesthetic compositions of objects, picture room and detail show his determined use of study and practice. This gave him the opportunity to become seminar leader at the master school of photography in Duesseldorf.
However Roman Kasperski does not want to rest on this foundation and the resulting success. Bound to his high aimed goals of avoiding clichés and not to be self-quoting, he interprets art as a way of development. On this self-branching way, he reclaimed a terrain that seeks one’s own kind:
So Kasperskis photos range between classic nude photography and modern Pin-Up, opulent orgiastic and minimalist – and often with a discreet pinch of humor. The trivial and the sublime in his work lie very close together as it should be in real art.
He manages to stage his models as icons and nevertheless catches their different sides. Through his strong feel for dispositions, his pictures are always highly intensive. For the exact observer it is not unusual to see the vulnerability of the persons involved in the shooting, the one of the model and of the photographer.
