Guillaume Seignac (1870 - 1924). Seignac trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts under the tutelage of William Bouguereau, where he developed a unique talent for depicting classical figures with a high degree of finish. Bouguereau described the Seignac nude as un genie immortel—an ideal of grace and beauty that transforms nature.
Seignac later studied with Anthony Robert-Fleury and Gabriel Ferrier thus completing his extensive tour through some of Paris’ most celebrated ateliers. The artist became a frequent contributor to the Paris Salon and received a number of medals for the works he exhibited there. 19th century European and American society found great appeal in the romanticism of Seignac’s idealized figures and as more and more families wished to appear stylishly modern, works such as L’Amour désarmé became exceedingly popular. Until that time, the most desirable paintings to display in the home were the works of the Italian Renaissance masters. Seignac was highly influenced by these painters, as evidenced by the harmoniously balanced composition and equilibrium between color and line. Seignac brought the Sistine sibyl into the modern world, framing her figure in nature and immortalizing her beauty.

Gabriel Metsu

Gabriel Metsu (Leiden, 1629 -Amsterdam, 1667). Pintor holandés. Fundador de la Cofradía de San Lucas, de la que se convierte en miembro en 1648, a mediados de 1650 se traslada a Amsterdam, ciudad en la que se instala definitivamente en 1657. De acuerdo con Arnold Houbraken, aprende a pintar con Gerard Dou, si bien su primer estilo difiere mucho del de su maestro, debido en parte a su gusto por un trazo amplio frente a la minuciosidad de Dou en escenas tanto históricas como mitológicas. En Amsterdam, Metsu cambia de género, optando por la pintura costumbrista que le lleva a captar escenas de la vida urbana de la clase media cercanas a artistas como Gerard Terborch y Pieter de Hooch. El atractivo de su creación reside en su brillante sensibilidad cromática y en su valorada minuciosidad; minuciosidad retomada de su maestro Gerard Dou. Su obra, El niño enfermo (Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, hacia 1600), ha sido comparada en numerosas ocasiones con lienzos de Jan Vermeer. El usurero (Museo de Bellas Arte, Boston, 1654) y El gallo muerto (Museo del Prado, Madrid), son obras de merecida mención.

Nace en 1973 en Santiago de Chile. En 1991 ingresa en la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile, siendo distinguido con la Beca de Excelencia Académica proceso de admisión 1991 a las universidades chilenas. Desde 1992 se concentra en la investigación de procedimientos y materiales de pintura e inicia su labor docente en cursos de pintura de la Federación de Estudiantes de Chile (FECH) y posteriormente, en distintos Ayuntamientos de Santiago. En 1994 se inicia en la tecnología digital aplicada al diseño y al arte, recibiendo además el primer lugar en el concurso de pintura "Arte en Vivo" organizado por Librerías Nacional, KLM y la Real Embajada de los Países Bajos. Obtiene la Licenciatura en Artes Plásticas en el año 1996. Tras años de dedicación a la docencia y diversas exposiciones colectivas en Chile, en 2001 se le concede la Beca de Post grado de Fundación Arte y Autores Contemporáneos. Fue profesor de pintura y dibujo para La Academia en las sedes de Chinchón y Madrid, donde colaboró en el taller de imagen digital. En la actualidad, junto al artista chileno Oscar Villalón, ha fundado los talleres de arte Solana 12 con 2 sedes en Madrid. Prepara simultáneamente su primera muestra individual en Galleria Marieschi, Milán, Italia.

Franz Marc (Munich, 8 de febrero de 1880 – Verdún, 4 de marzo de 1916), pintor alemán. Fue uno de los principales representantes del movimiento expresionista alemán.
Comenzó sus estudios en 1900, en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Munich. Sus primeras creaciones fueron de estilo naturalista, pero en su viaje a París en 1903 descubre el impresionismo y, sobre todo, la obra de Vincent Van Gogh. En 1910, hizo amistad con los pintores August Macke y Wassily Kandinsky, con quienes fundó, junto a otros pintores, el movimiento artístico Der Blaue Reiter. Murió en una acción de guerra durante la Primera Guerra Mundial.
Fue influenciado por el uso del color de Robert Delaunay. Cada vez se acercó más al futurismo y al cubismo. Su obra evolucionará con el tiempo hacia una mayor abstracción y sobriedad, hasta culminar en la abstracción expresiva.
La parte de su obra más conocida son los retratos de animales. Estas obras se caracterizan por la brillantez de colores primarios, el cubismo, la simplicidad y un profundo sentido de la emoción. El tema es la fuerza vital de la naturaleza, el bien, la belleza y la verdad del animal que el autor no ve en el hombre, al cual no representa. Marc intenta representar el mundo tal como lo ve el animal, mediante la simplificación formal y cromática de las cosas. Usa cada color para denotar un significado: azul para la austeridad masculina y lo espiritual, amarillo para la alegría femenina, y el rojo para la violencia.

Odilon Redon (Burdeos, 1840-París, 1916). Pintor, grabador y dibujante francés. Vivió en su ciudad natal hasta 1870, año en que se trasladó a París, donde en 1884 se convirtió en un personaje público a raíz de la aparición de una novela en la que el protagonista coleccionaba dibujos suyos. Hasta entonces, se había dedicado en exclusiva a la ilustración al carboncillo, y plasmado imágenes del todo alejadas de lo común, pobladas de seres fantásticos. A partir de 1890 se inició en la pintura, caracterizada en el aspecto técnico por el uso del óleo y el pastel y en lo temático por visiones fantasiosas cercanas a sus trabajos como dibujante o bien bodegones protagonizados por imaginativos ramilletes de flores. Tanto por el decorativismo de sus obras, impregnadas de un cromatismo vivo y delicuescente de sublime belleza, como por la evanescente irrealidad de sus composiciones, es considerado como uno de los principales representantes del simbolismo y un precursor del surrealismo. Entre sus obras cabe destacar sus series de litografías Homenaje a Goya (1885), La noche (1886) y La tentación de san Antonio (1888-1896), así como los cuadros Retrato de Mme. Odilon Redon, Retrato de Gauguin y El Sagrado Corazón. También es autor de la decoración mural del castillo de Domecy y de la abadía de Fontfroide.

Giuseppe Mariotti was born in Todi (Italy), a very old, lovely town located in central Italy, in the region of Umbria, founded around 2700 B.C. and subsequently an Etruscan and then Roman town. Mariotti completed his secondary school education in classical studies, and then earned a degree in Architecture at the School of Architecture of Rome University (Italy). During his university years, his scientific background contributed to the maturation of the two innate aspects of his personality: the imaginative and the rational. He has never attended an art school, so is self-taught.
Mariotti is fascinated by the Italian Renaissance and the great artists of that period--the emotional balance and rigorous composition of Piero della Francesca, the plasticity and drama of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, as well as the poetry and delicacy of Vermeer. He is equally fascinated by modern painting for its freedom of language as well as its capacity for continual innovation.
Mariotti's artwork has received various prizes and awards, both in Italy and internationally. He lives with his wife, Diane (who is originally from New York), his two children, Deborah and Tommy, their dog, Odie, and four cats.

"So I'm sitting here looking at the HTML trying to figure out what anyone would want to know that can't be seen in the photographs or read in the essays on the site. I sign everything as "Don" so I imagine there's some curiosity about the stuffy "D. Brian" business. I got to the web when it was still relatively young and didn't know what repercussions, if any, there could be to using my real name. So I used a variation on my legal name "Donley Brian Nelson."
Let's see. Photo background. Back in the mid-80's the wife suggested I do something artsy, as my left-brain engineering work probably needed counterbalancing. I studied commercial photography at City College in San Diego. Before getting the AA they offered I was shooting professionally, full-time. Hated it. Quit completely after a few years. Came back several years later to photograph only what I want. Which is what I do now.
So I shoot what I like (mostly beautiful women) and once in awhile some art buyer comes along and buys some of my pictures. Those buyers have included Reader's Digest, Stern (the German picture weekly), (NotOnly)Black+White (the really cool Australian art/fashion/photo mag), Nerve.Com and several other foreign and local magazines, a couple of photo anthology books, a modeling guide and stuff like that. I also covered nightlife as a freelancer for The San Diego Union-Tribune website, "SignOnSanDiego.Com" for about four years. My portfolio's been called in overnight a few times to major ad agencies, but it's just as well it got rejected, as I'm not real keen on shooting assignment just yet anyway - maybe after I retire from aerospace..."

Inspired by her graphic designer father, Carrie Graber began her creative career early. The renowned Art Center in Pasadena offered her a scholarship in recognition of her promising talent and was not disappointed: after studying under such figures as Burne Hogarth, Harry Carmean, and Richard Bunkall, Graber graduated with the highest honor of distinction. Now at the young age of 29, she has accumulated numerous prestigious accolades and awards for her stunning oils on canvas.
Graber focuses on capturing the beauty and subtlety of an ordinary setting. Her compositions are filled with dramatic environmental light and shadow, reminiscent of one of her influences, the Dutch master Vermeer. Her warm and realistically rendered interiors are populated by young women going about their daily rituals: putting on heels, quietly enjoying a favorite beverage, sitting down to a meal. The contemplative mood leaves the viewer with a sense of privilege at having witnessed such personal and private scenes. Focusing on an often overlooked subject, Graber's soft yet bold approach warms the viewers' senses.
The artist currently resides in southern California.

I began doing graphic arts in 1998 without any formation nor doing any art school.

My work is based on mutation and body modification.

My pleasure to create characters and ambiances comes from differents influences such a photo, painting, graphism, and even architecture and music.

I work on scanned pictures which I modify on computer with different tools and technics.
